In September 2019, FSVC received funding from the U.S. Department of State to assist Ethiopia in combating corruption through increased budget transparency. Specifically, FSVC is working to help 1) advance the accounting capabilities of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation; 2) increase the ability of the House of Peoples’ Representatives to oversee the national budget; and 3) improve the audit policies and procedures of the supreme audit institution.
A key component of FSVC’s current work is helping the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation implement International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). IPSAS will help increase financial transparency and accountability of public resources allocation. FSVC assistance includes the development of a strategic rollout plan of IPSAS and a series of technical training modules on IPSAS.
