In November 2024, FSVC received funding from the U.S. Embassy Baghdad to implement a program strengthening the open budget process in Iraq.
This program builds on momentum for reform and initiatives taken in FSVC’s previous programs with the Government of Iraq to take critical next steps to consolidate gains in the areas of budget transparency and efficiency in Iraq.
The program objectives are to:
1) Assist the Budget Committee of the Prime Minister’s Office of Iraq in transitioning from a national line-item budget to a national program-based budget, and
2) Launch local civil society organizations (CSOs) engagement in the budget process of Iraq.
