Program Officer – South Africa

Salary: Commensurate with experience

The Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) is seeking a highly motivated Program Officer to successfully and effectively assist in the implementation of a technical assistance program in South Africa.  The USAID-funded program, entitled “Strengthening Anti-Corruption Efforts and Procedures in Southern Africa aims in part to help South Africa combat corruption through stronger procedures and coordinated efforts.  The Program Officer will help FSVC implement practical, results-oriented activities in South Africa that respond to local needs and help improve people’s lives.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage multiple field aspects of technical assistance delivery by senior-level experts, including program activity design, logistical arrangements, implementation, post-project follow-up, and reporting to funders;
  • Build relationships and represent FSVC with key counterpart organizations, including donors, financial institutions, government institutions, and other technical assistance providers;
  • Establish new relationships with key local institutions (e.g., government institutions, civil society organizations, financial institutions and international donors, among other relevant actors); and
  • Liaise closely with FSVC NY headquarters team and other field staff to ensure effective program implementation and project management.
What You’ll Need
  • Five to seven years of professional experience in international development, particularly financial sector development and combating financial crime, or in a related field;
  • Experience managing the delivery of international technical assistance programs;
  • Working relationships with key government and civil society institutions;
  • Master’s degree in international development, finance/economics, business, international relations, or other related field;
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; and
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
