FSVC received funding from the U.S. Department of State in 2023 for a program aiming to foster regular security discussions between law enforcement units and women in Mauritania and Senegal. FSVC is implementing this program in partnership with two local organizations in both countries.
The objectives of FSVC’s program are to:
1) Strengthen the understanding of local law enforcement of the current roles of women in security in the Senegal-Mauritania border region, including identifying gaps and opportunities for greater female participation; and
2) Increase accessibility of security reporting structures to female members of local communities on the Senegal-Mauritania border, and enhance their understanding of law enforcement’s role in countering terrorism along the border.
