Since 2020, FSVC has been implementing a program to strengthen and systematize reporting on beneficial ownership in Tajikistan to meet the requirement 2.5 of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) standard on beneficial ownership. This program is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.
FSVC’s program works to strengthen awareness and implementation of the EITI standard in Tajikistan. FSVC works with government institutions, private companies, civil society organizations (CSOs), journalists and citizens to ensure that each stakeholder plays a proactive role in meeting the EITI standard.
Program Impact
To date, FSVC’s program has achieved significant results to enhance the disclosure of beneficial ownership in the extractive sector, and to raise awareness among government institutions, private companies and CSOs about the EITI standard and process.
Key program results include:
– The launch of a beneficial ownership transparency web-portal;
– The development of standardized beneficial ownership disclosure forms (in Tajik and Russian);
– Enhanced public-private dialogue on beneficial ownership disclosure; and
– The drafting and publication of the EITI reconciliation report covering FY 2019, 2020 and 2021.
As a result of FSVC’s technical assistance, Tajikistan’s EITI membership suspension was lifted in June 2023.
